"I consider it of capital importance that, above all, adults have the fullest respect for the child's freedom, and that they sincerely renounce imposing upon him an authority whose only basis can be the right of the strongest. (...)
Therefore, give good examples and advice supported by convincing reasons, never by violence; never command, never force.
In the current environment, the child will hear talk of the master. May he abhor this word from an early age, may he develop a hatred of authority in any form it may take, and may, during this transitional period, the spirit of revolt in turn become the foremost of virtues."
